Filtered Fresh

iTech's e energy water bottles use three layers of filtration to remove hard chemicals and impurities from tap water while also infusing it with positive hydrogen ions and vitamin C. According to the manufacturer, the pH-balanced water from the e energy system will help improve hair texture and shine, protect hair color from fading, and improve skin tone. Available in a 12.9-ounce professional size, 3.6-ounce personal size, and 0.44-ounce purse spritzer, the filtration system works up to 12 months. $40-$80, eenergywater.com

Weighing Your Health

The EatSmart Nutrition Scale takes the standard kitchen scale to the next level, by not only displaying the weight of food in pounds, ounces, and grams, but also analyzing and calculating the food's nutritional value. At the touch of a button, the EatSmart scale shows you the amount of 12 major nutrients — including fat, carbohydrates, sodium, protein, and calories — in hundreds of foods preprogrammed into the device. Topped with tempered glass for easy cleanup, the scale runs on four AAA batteries — so you can watch what you eat on the go. $75, eatsmartproducts.com

Tracking Tidbit

By simply clipping the Fitbit Tracker to your clothing, you can record how much exercise you're getting during the day and how soundly you're sleeping at night. The wireless device, which fits in the palm of your hand, uses sensors similar to those found in the Nintendo Wii to monitor your movements and activity levels. It can calculate calories burned, steps walked, and even how long it takes you to fall asleep. The Fitbit Tracker syncs wirelessly with its base station, allowing you to upload data to the Internet, where you can track your progress, analyze results, or team up with friends to tackle fitness goals. $99, fitbit.com

Skin Scrubber

While some devices use ultrasonic frequencies to blast plaque off teeth, the Clarisonic Skincare Brush uses a similar technology to give skin a deep cleansing. The Clarisonic's soft brushes rotate more than 300 times per second and move gently across the skin to scrub pores and remove makeup and oil. By loosening deep dirt, the Clarisonic helps moisturizers and creams work more effectively. And used in a daily beauty routine, it can reduce the appearance of pores, fine lines, and wrinkles. $195, clarisonic.com

New Tools for On-the-Go Users

Blackberry fans now have an easy way to shop for cool new applications, just like iPhone users. With the recent launch of BlackBerry App World at mobile.blackberry.com, visitors can gain access to MySpace and Facebook, as well as a variety of games, news, and travel programs.

The one-stop online store is just one of the recent moves made by BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion to increase the brand's popularity. One free download at the site is Google Voice Search, an application already available on the iPhone and the Android-based T-Mobile G1. Hold the "talk" button on your BlackBerry and say your search words. The service dovetails with Google's My Location application, so searches for a specific type of eatery, for example, can be set to match your location.

While demand for mobile video hasn't been huge thus far, BlackBerry is nevertheless mimicking iPhone's TV viewing capability. QuickPlay Media Inc. offers popular shows for a monthly subscription fee of $7.99, a different approach than Apple's pay-per-show policy.

Meanwhile, Apple's new 3.0 operating system for the iPhone adds a copy-and-paste feature that allows you to move text between applications. And a new Spotlight feature lets you search across all applications, including e-mail — a feature BlackBerry already offered. Both Apple and T-Mobile are trumpeting new applications that let users download and edit Word and Excel documents on the iPhone and G1. And Yahoo Mobile is now available as an iPhone application; Yahoo Mobile positions itself as an Internet portal for one-touch access to e-mail, instant messaging, social networks, and favorite content.
