Which places do you want to visit in the next few months? Summer is around the corner, but there's no need to wait. Whatever most inspires your travels — centuries-old architecture, beautiful landscapes, arts and culture, outdoor pursuits, or just plain taking it easy — May is a great time to take flight. Read Elaine Glusac's story, "Beauty and the Creative Feast," and you just may want to follow her to Mexico. Glusac went back to school, so to speak, in San Miguel de Allende, a charming 16th-century colonial town 33 miles from León/Guanajuato that's well populated with artisans and famed for its language, art, and cooking classes.

If your idea of a creative feast is more literal than that, you can't beat Rome. In this issue, Paris-based Alexander Lobrano, a European correspondent for Gourmet magazine, takes us to Trattoria Monti (see "Try a Little Tenderness"), a family-run neighborhood restaurant that impressed Lobrano so much on his first visit that he returned for dinner the following night. While in Rome, you could soak up the good life while enjoying drinks at Harry's Bar on the Via Veneto, the chic promenade where Federico Fellini shot his classic film La Dolce Vita almost 50 years ago (read "Sweet Life").

You might want to visit New York soon after the Tony Awards on June 7, to catch some of the prizewinning Broadway shows. Guys and Dolls director Des McAnuff — himself a multiple Tony winner — offers up his insights into Broadway's annual awards bash. Or maybe you want to travel into the future of computing — check out our story on Russ Daniels, vice president and chief technology officer, Cloud Services Strategy, at Hewlett-Packard.

Happy travels and good reading.

Chicago-based freelancer Elaine Glusac was delighted when asked to write about San Miguel de Allende. "It fits my two requirements for the perfect trip: I was forced to speak a foreign language and tasked to learn a new skill — or in this case, several. I can't say I fulfilled either with scores of a scholar, but I was able to come home and reproduce the tamales I learned at the Sazón cooking school in my own kitchen for an appreciative audience of friends and family." Her work has also appeared in the New York Times, National Geographic Traveler, and Cooking Light.
