Welcome aboard, and thank you for choosing Continental Airlines for your flight today. We hope to be your airline of choice on every flight you take, and we've worked hard for more than a decade to build a network that offers convenient flights to the destinations that are most important to our customers. Every day, more than 2,800 Continental, Continental Express, and Continental Connection flights take to the skies, heading to 135 domestic and 132 international destinations. In the tough economic climate we face today, it is more important than ever that we maintain a strong, balanced route network.

New York's Newark Liberty International Airport, our “global gateway,” is a crucial part of Continental's strong international scope, and we are proud to be New York and New Jersey's leading airline. We offer service to more nonstop destinations from the New York area than any other carrier, including service to more nonstop international destinations. We also offer more weekly flights and more weekly seats from the New York area than any other carrier.

This month, we are adding a new international destination to our route map: Shanghai, China. On March 25, we will launch daily nonstop flights between our New York–area hub at Newark Liberty and Shanghai, China, and through-flight service between Cleveland and Shanghai. The new service will provide daily nonstop flights to the largest China market that currently lacks daily service from the United States. We have a strong presence across the Pacific: in addition to our service to Shanghai, we offer service between New York and Beijing and Hong Kong, and we serve more cities in Japan than any other U.S. carrier.

We also offer great service to Latin America and the Caribbean. We serve 46 destinations in Latin America and 25 in the Caribbean, and we have more destinations in Mexico from the United States, and more flights from the U.S. to Mexico, than any other carrier. We recently applied with the U.S. Department of Transportation for service from our Houston hub at Bush Intercontinental Airport to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Pending government approval, we hope to add that service in June 2009.

In addition to offering service to the international destinations of your choice, we work hard to tailor our international product to the markets we serve. On many of our flights, we offer bilingual products and services in the language of the destination city, including bilingual flight attendants and bilingual inflight entertainment options. Additionally, where we can, we customize our inflight meal service for our international flights.

Of course, no matter what your destination, the most important ingredient at Continental is the industry-leading service provided by my co-workers, like International Flight Attendant Bonny Roualet and International Flight Attendant David Leong. You can read more about them here.

On behalf of Bonny, David, and all my more than 42,000 co-workers, thanks again for your business. We look forward to welcoming you aboard another flight soon.
