Welcome aboard, and thank you for flying with Continental Airlines. We aim to provide you with the best service and the most consistent product in the industry, focusing on the basics of clean, safe, and reliable air transportation. While you’re familiar with our onboard service, you might not know as much about our cargo operation. This award-winning sector of our business provides a broad range of flight-specific options for domestic and international destinations, and as with our passenger operations, we work hard to ensure on-time delivery. With Continental Cargo’s QUICKPAK service, customers can have their most important shipments delivered to their destination in a matter of hours, guaranteed. Reflecting our commitment to the New York market, we have revamped our New York/Newark Liberty International Airport QUICKPAK office as a “superstore,” tripling its size and creating dedicated entryways for commercial couriers and live animal shippers. Conveniently located in Liberty’s Terminal C, the office provides direct ramp access to ensure fast drop-off and recovery times. We also recently added a new QUICKPAK office in Manhattan. Critical small packages traveling on our red-eye flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, Portland, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, and Las Vegas can be quickly transported between Newark Liberty and Manhattan via the passenger ferry services of the New York Waterway. With a fast ramp transfer of packages from Liberty via secured van to the Imperial Terminal at the Hudson River, critical shipments speed across the river and into Midtown Manhattan in 90 minutes, avoiding the traffic, bridges, tunnels, and tolls. Another popular cargo-shipping program is our award-winning live animal product, PetSafe. Unlike airlines that embargo pets during hot or cold seasons, we are able to transport animals year-round because of our investments in temperature-controlled vans and dedicated animal handling teams. Just like their owners, pets shipped with PetSafe travel in temperature-controlled, pressurized comfort, alongside our attentive employees, from drop-off to pick-up. Animals traveling via PetSafe may also enjoy dedicated kennels at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport and, starting this summer, at Liberty International. The Newark kennel is the world’s first airline-owned facility located within the baggage claim area of the terminal, and our Houston facility is conveniently located at our Continental cargo building, on airport property. Our Cargo branch also shares Continental’s commitment to the environment. Starting this quarter, freight forwarders can join our passengers in reducing their carbon footprint via a carbon-offsetting program offered through our partnership with the nonprofit organization Sustainable Travel International. Finally, I can’t talk about the success of our Cargo operation without recognizing the main reason for that success: our hard-working Cargo employees, like Cargo Sales Agent Julio Menieur. You can read more about Julio in this month’s Continental Notebook. On behalf of Julio and the entire Continental team, thank you again for your business.
