Call to Duty

Cheddi Sealy, a production associate/sanitation agent for Continental’s Chelsea Newark flight kitchen, is described by his co-workers as always willing to go above and beyond the call of duty to assist the team. It’s the same devotion to duty that Sealy displays as a 10-year volunteer with New York City’s reserve police.

The reserve police patrol subways, walk the beat throughout the city, and make sure police have the help they need. As an auxiliary sergeant, Sealy represents his neighborhood council in meetings with the regular police force and commissioner.

While doing his work with the police, Sealy has seen kids in trouble. “I got involved with the kids so they would see that all cops aren’t bad, and that they have a human side,” he says. Sealy and other reserve police talk with kids in school and take them on field trips to the police museum and tours of ships in New York Harbor during Fleet Week.

A music lover, Sealy is also active in the Many Voices for Christ men’s choir. He recently started a kids choir he calls Jewels. “You’ve got to give back in life,” he says. “If you get kids at an early age, you can help guide them to live a good life.”

Presidents Club Wins Lounge of the Year

Continental’s Presidents Club in Terminal E at Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport has earned the Priority Pass Lounge of the Year award. Members of Priority Pass, an independent airport lounge program, visit more than 500 different airline clubs, rating each on facilities, general ambience, and service. This is the fourth consecutive year that one of Continental’s clubs has taken the highest honor. “We are very proud of our entire Presidents Club network,” says Mark Bergsrud, Continental’s senior vice president, marketing programs and distribution. To be recognized by voters that frequent more than 500 lounges all around the world is quite an honor. Having a great leadership team with great employees is a very important component of our product offering.”
