Your Itinerary

If You Have Two Hours
In 1927, Otis and Mantis Van Sweringen built what is now the oldest shopping district in Ohio: Shaker Square. Located just a short ride away via public transportation from downtown Cleveland, the waterfront, and the airport, Shaker Square offers a diverse and unique shopping, strolling, and dining experience. Choose from Hungarian, Japanese, or Brazilian cuisine, or head to a wine bar and try Italian "tapas." There are also coffee shops and family-friendly restaurants and pizzerias. Immerse yourself in local art at the Lake Erie Artists Gallery, which features jewelry, fine art, and pottery, plus affordable local gifts. Shakersquare.net

If You Have Two Days
The Cleveland Orchestra has toured throughout the United States and Europe, and is recognized as one of the finest orchestral ensembles in the world. It has earned residencies in Miami at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, in New York City at the Lincoln Center Festival, and at Indiana University. The Cleveland Orchestra is also the first American orchestra to earn a residency at the Musikverein in Vienna. The ensemble performs regularly at beautiful Severance Hall in University Circle, the cultural and artistic heart of the city. Performances are every weekend and some weeknights; tickets are available online or at the Severance Hall Ticket Office. November's concerts include works by Brahms and Dvorak, and a tribute to John Williams. Clevelandorchestra.com

If You Have a Long Weekend
After the Civil War, the land near Lake Erie emerged as an up-and-coming area for winemaking. Today there are vineyards and vintners along the shore and throughout Ohio producing award-winning wines. Cleveland is in a prime wine touring location, with easy access to beautiful trails along the lake and beyond. The Lake Erie Shores & Islands Wine Trail offers a scenic route, with rolling hills, wineries that are both rustic and elegant, and views of the lake. Along the trail are D&D Smith Winery, Heartlands Vineyards, Heineman Winery, and Paper Moon Vineyards, among several others. The wineries along the trail offer lunch and dinner menus, gift shops featuring local art, live music, and a wide selection of whites, reds, sparkling, and dessert wines. Ohiowines.org
