Thank you for flying Continental Airlines today. We look forward to providing you with an industry-leading product and service on this and every flight you take with us. The commitment of my more than 45,000 co-workers to ensuring customer satisfaction is unparalleled in the airline industry. They are the best in the business.

Each year, my co-workers channel their professionalism and work ethic in another direction: toward the goal of giving all babies a healthy start in life. As part of Continental’s partnership with the March of Dimes Foundation, now in its third year, co-workers raise money and awareness to help the March of Dimes prevent premature birth, birth defects, and other serious threats to the health of babies. From educating pregnant women, to supporting pioneering medical research, to advocating for newborn screening for life-threatening disorders, the March of Dimes is the champion for babies and the leading resource for information on pregnancy and infant health.

Continental is a national sponsor of March for Babies, the March of Dimes’ signature fundraising event (formerly known as WalkAmerica), which takes place at 1,000 sites in communities all around the country. In 2007, more than 3,500 co-workers, friends, and family participated on Continental’s team, including about 1,500 at the Houston event — one of the country’s biggest. Continental co-workers also held numerous fundraisers, including a fantastic carnival in Cleveland, and raised more than $370,000 for the March of Dimes in 2007. I am continually amazed by the great things my co-workers accomplish when they work together.

For the third year, Continental is also the official airline of the March of Dimes National Ambassador Program. We will fly Catharine Aboulhouda, the 2008 National Ambassador, to all her public appearances this year, making it possible for her to share her story and the work of the March of Dimes.

To learn more about the March of Dimes and how you can support life-saving research, services, education, and advocacy for babies, please visit marchofdimes.com. And at continental.com, OnePass members can donate miles to help the March of Dimes.

Being a responsible, positive member of the communities we serve is a priority for Continental, for me personally, and for all my co-workers — including New York/Newark–based First Officer Stephen Kessinger. First Officer Kessinger conducted a campaign to send 16 care packages worth more than $2,000 to military air traffic controllers stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan. You can read more about his efforts here.
